Simplicity 1139 Review

This is my favorite corset pattern I’ve made. It is comfy, single layered, and easy to make. This also has the best shape of all the corset patterns I have made. I will admit there is not a ton I’ve made but hay, this one beats them by a long shot. Seriously though, look at that shape. It fits super lovely and I even fell asleep just fine in this. (I was super tired)

The sizing is good over all but it was a tiny bit snug in the hips. Likely I’m just a bit short for the pattern, this may be a concern since I’m not, technically, short.

Another problem I ran into is my busk kept twisting. I’m chalking this up to some asymmetry in my body and using cheaper materials. I do believe, off the top of my head, this pattern does ask for steel boning which I did not use. (Shout out to Amazon for having a huge roll of plastic boning. I’m not too happy using plastics if I can help it but in this case it allowed me to learn over multiple corsets.)

The other corset I’ve had a chance to wear did not have as drastic of a busk twist. It only was off by about a centimeter. This suggests that this pattern is more likely to show problems. Take that for what you will but I still stand by this review as the corset is that easy to wear. This pattern also has an added bonus of needing less fabric then the other patterns on this blog, a win in my book.
